The Art of Teaching Mentorship program is currently not accepting new submissions.

Since 2016, the Art of Teaching Project has been a growing platform for teachers to share their stories and connect with peers. Participating educators, who hold roles ranging from music teachers to principals, school counselors to STEAM instructors, equity coaches to Directors of Technology, and who teach in states from coast to coast (including a few outside of the US), have published over 170 blogs to date. They’ve shared ideas in Twitter chats, events, and webinars. Now, we’re expanding the learning opportunities and platform for connection in the Art of Teaching Project through a brand new mentorship program, available to all PreK-12 educators.

This mentorship opportunity is a casual, flexible, online partnership between a new educator and a veteran educator. It’s open to any PreK-12 educator who would like to participate, including those who have been involved with the Art of Teaching through guest blogging. If you haven’t written a guest blog yet, that’s okay! You’re still welcome to sign up for the mentorship program, and there’s no obligation to write a guest post.

Who is this program for?

  • It’s open to any PreK-12 educator who would like to participate!
  • We’ll pair one mentor educator with one mentee educator.
  • We’re defining mentees as anyone who has been teaching for less than 5 years. However, if you’ve been teaching for longer than 5 years but you’re interested in entering the program as a mentee because you recently made a change in your career (say, you just moved into a leadership position and want a veteran leader mentor) just let us know! This will be flexible and personal.

What do I do if I want to participate?

If you’d like to enter the program, simply fill out this form👇

The mentorship program is now closed.

Leave any special requests or questions in the comments.

How long is the commitment?

  • Since this is the pilot Art of Teaching mentorship program, it will last through the remainder of the 2021–2022 school year, roughly taking 2–3 hours of your time each month, depending on what suits your and your partner’s schedules and preferences. We’ll keep in touch with all of you throughout the year to see how things are going, and we’ll re-group in the summer to decide if this is something that we all want to continue into the following year!

How do we get matched?

  • As participant sign up, we’ll match on a first come, first serve basis.
  • If you know of any teachers in your district or network that would enjoy the program, encourage them to sign up!

What happens once we’re matched?

  • The program itself is very flexible, and a light commitment. The idea is to meet with your mentee/mentor about once a month over video call, a phone call, or whatever works best for you.
  • We will provide you with some resources to get you started in having conversations and a roadmap with suggested meeting pace, platform, themes, etc.
  • We also plan to organize some meeting times for mentors to gather and discuss ideas and pain points, especially because this is the pilot program.

We are so excited to meet more talented educators and help you form connections, swap ideas, and learn with other talented educators! If you have any questions about the program, be sure to leave your name and email address in this contact form, and place your questions in the last field. We’ll get back with you as soon as we can:

The mentorship program is now closed.

We can’t wait to celebrate the Art of Teaching with you!
